Nice camera in its category. If you are beginner and looking for your first DSLR, it good choice. It has all DSLR qualities - speed, image quality and even full HD video capability! Of course, it's entry level, so the ergonomy is not so good as Nikon D7000 and battery has not so long endurance or there is missing sensor for automatic display turn off when looking into viewfinder. I would recommend it with Nikkor 18-105 VR - it's great all-around lenses...
Today, I saw tons of pictures from Nicon D3100 with Nikkor 18-105VR. I was really surprised from quality. I have to say that sharpness of images and colours is excelent. I have low-end Canon 450D with Sigma 17-70 2.8-3.5 and it seems, that Nicon gives better results. From my point of view, there are two reasons - very nice working nicon's d-lighting and Nikkor's image stabilisation.
nice cammera, good price
