These two good looking cars are on my short list. But I don't know how to decide between them.

I've tested both, and now own a Forester
I decided to buy a Subaru because of its well-developed symmetrical AWD system and long-time evolution.

I prefer Mitsubishi Outlander because it has good service centre in Ostrava.

Subaru has a permanent four-wheel drive and it worked very well on snowy roads in the mountains. An agreeable feature is the electronic hill hold. In addition to this, the Subaru Boxer Diesel is very economical. According to the on-board computers, my average annual consumption is 5.8 liters per 100 km. It is a very reliable car with perfect parts processing. However, the controls for the heated seats are badly positioned. When driving, I can not find it without looking. So far, our Subaru has only unpleasantly surprised us once and this was when the petrol froze at -16 degrees Celsius. Now, I always bring with me the petrol additives, for sure.

I heard that a flat boxer motor (like the Subaru boxer diesel) has a significant advantage when starting a cold engine. The distribution of motor oil into cylinders is faster than for classic inline (straight) engines. Which means that you can probably expect a longer life-cycle.

I have had quality problems with Mitsi, none with Subie
Apr 21, 2011 / s...s@amnet.com.auI'D GO FOR THE SUBARU FORESTER BOXER DIESEL
I'd go for the Subaru Forester with the Boxer Diesel any day. If only it were sold here in the USA, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Mitsubishi four door Outlander has looks of a sporty car, but several comforts of a saloon car. While the car is not the finest in its class, a stable improvement in pattern & handling makes for a considerable car.
